Getting people to watch your film doesn't have to be such a frustrating experience.
LunchBox Movies offers you an easy, rewarding way of showing your masterpieces to a worldwide audience. It's simple. You create a filmmaker profile then you upload your movie.
At LunchBox Movies we understand the importance of showing your film to a wider audience.
If you've bigger dreams than regional or even national distribution; if you're looking for a worldwide audience to experience your great film, LunchBox Movies is just right for you.
Why should distributors get all the money? After all, glory alone doesn't pay for your next movie.
LunchBox Movies never owns the films it shows. It also doesn't own your DVDs if you choose to market and sell them through LunchBox Movies. We believe that DVD revenue should be for you, the filmmaker.

Filmmakers FAQ
How do I get involved with Lunchbox Movies?
Review the submission guidelines and upload your film with a completed submission form.
Can anyone submit work to Lunchbox Movies?
Yes. Submission is open to all filmmakers from almost all countries.
Is Lunchbox Movies partial to certain types of films?
No, we are not partial to any one type, we are open to all types of movies. Fiction or non-fiction. If you've created something of interest to the general public. We'll sell the tickets and share the box office receipts with you. Okay, we weren't being totally honest. We're all kind of partial to Zombie movies, or anything with monkeys.
Will Lunchbox Movies publish any movie?
No, we do not publish (1) pornographic or patently offensive films, or (2) works that infringe upon other people's copyrights. Also if you are looking to post something that is not a film (guy gets hit in the nuts, cats playing with string, etc.), we can recommend several great video sharing sites that will share your content with the world.
How many films can I submit?
As many as you like, but please submit a separate submission package per title.
Is there a submission fee?
No, submission to Lunchbox Movies is free.
What happens once I submit my movie?
We will screen your film and review your submission form. Then convert and upload your content to the website. You will receive an email notification once your movie is ready for viewing.
What kind of agreement with Lunchbox Movies will I have to sign?
During the upload you will be presented with a license agreement that grants us non-exclusive rights over the licensing period. Lunchbox Movies does not want to own the rights or distribute your movie. We only want the opportunity to show it and collect a ticket price, which we share with filmmakers. You keep 100% of DVD sales and link right from your social networking page to your own website to close that deal. No fees, share box office receipts, market your film, tell your story. PLEASE read the agreement. We paid a lot of lawyers fees to get it right, and we want our money's worth. The entertainment industry is, unfortunately, one that attracts people of indiscriminent morals, so you need to be careful. We've heard the stories, so if you have further questions email us at info@lunchboxmovies.com.
Do you require my movie to be exclusive to Lunchbox Movies?
We do not want exclusive rights to show your content. But keep in mind, while marketing your property, if viewers can watch your great movie for free, the odds they will buy a ticket on Lunchbox Movies are pretty low. And since we want ticket revenue helping support the filmmakers, we of course would like to encourage you to keep your content exclusive to Lunchbox Movies.
Where will Lunchbox Movies show my film?
Lunchbox Movies will only show content on our website, www.lunchboxmovies.com.
What other charges do I have to pay?
None. Accounts are free. Also it will give you an opportunity to add links to your production company website, your DVD sales channel or relevant information about you, as a filmmaker.
What else do I get with Lunchbox Movies website?
Your movie will be part of a network of Indie productions. Each filmmaker will be able to market their films through the site. Lunchbox Movies will market the site and, on occasion specific movies, to external resources through advertising, marketing and recommendations from users of the site.
How long does it take for my film to be uploaded?
5-10 business days, depending on volume of movies submitted. Movies are review to verify content is within the guidelines of users agreements.
Can I see the finished movie before it goes on line?
Of course. You will receive email notification when content is ready to view. You can review it for quality check up to 5 days after completed, and then the content is automatically approved and loaded. If you determine there are issues with movie conversion after this time, please contact us immediately to resolve any issues.
How long will my movie be available through Lunchbox Movies?
As long as both parties are satisfied with the arrangement.
How do I make money?
There are two types of movie tickets. Paid tickets and marketing tickets. The marketing tickets are distributed by you and by Lunchbox Movies to garner interest in your movie. The paid tickets are, as they sound, tickets that the general public buys to view movies on our site. The filmmaker receives a percentage of the value of the paid ticket price. So, basically, we share the box office receipts. Your account will show reports of how many views and which type of ticket were used.
What about DVDs?
You maintain 100% of DVD revenue through links on your filmmaker page to your current distribution model for your movies. LunchBox Movies is not involved in your own DVD distribution.
When do I get paid?
Initially we are making payments quarterly. You will be able to securely check your statistics and if you request a payment out of the account, can receive a payment for the previous quarter's sales through Paypal. There will be tax issues which you will be responsible for based on federal, state or international tax laws. As we move forward, our plan is to implement a more immediate payment option, after all it's your money.
What if I want to break the agreement?
If you decide to revoke the license agreement with Lunchbox Movies, you must send us a written termination notice. Within 30 days of receiving such written request, we will cease availability of that title and pull the title from the website.
How is Lunchbox Movies different from a traditional home video distributor?
Unlike traditional distribution deals, you retain all rights to your film and there are no lengthy term periods. We act as your online movie theater and marketing partner to present your work to a broader audience.
What's in it for me?
Money. Our purpose in creating this site is to support and help Filmmakers. We want you to make money from your hard work and offer a way to see that hard word rewarded almost immediately. We can't guarantee how your movie will do, that will depend on the quality of your submission and your help in marketing the movie. But it doesn't do anyone good if your movie is not seen.
What formats do you support for uploaded video?
Because we are focused on providing high quality experience to the viewer we have chosen to focus on a range of higher quality formats and codecs.
Currently we support the following formats:
- .MOV files - (typically supporting h264 and mpeg4 video codecs and AAC audio codec)
- .AVI (Many cameras output this format - typically the video codec is MJPEG and audio is PCM)
- .MPEGPS (Typically supporting MPEG2 video codec and MP2 audio)
- .WMV
- .FLV (Adobe - FLV1 video codec, MP3 audio)
Tips and notes:
- Always in the highest quality possible, and if possible its original format.
- We prefer de-interlaced files.
- If your file is using h264 encoding we prefer files without PAFF/MBAFF encoding.
- Audio and video lengths should be the same and audio should start at the same time as the video.
What is the Upload Process?
There are a wide range of video codec formats, audio codec formats and container formats in use our goal is to eventually support a very wide variety. Currently we play back movies in streaming flash to best protect your film from download and piracy.
Step One: Create an account.
Step Two: Select "My Films" after logging in.
Step Three: Select video, input information, genre and "Original Aspect Ratio"
- 4:3 (1.33:1) (universal for standard-definition video formats)
- 16:9 (1.78:1), (universal for HD television and European television)
- 1.85:1 (films in movie theaters)
Original Aspect Ratio
This is the size and format of your original film, not the final aspect ratio as your film will appear on the site. If you select the incorrect format, your film may appear distorted. Please select your original file upload aspect ratio.
Step Four: Agree to "Terms" and select "Save"
Your film will be uploaded, then appoved by LunchBox Movies. You can then review the film for errors or synch issues, then approve in your account. This creates a report in "My Reports" that shows usage and revenue earned.
You can "Share" the video and email your fans with a personal message that your video is on the site.
This FAQ doesn't answer my question. What should I do?
